For 141 years, the Mortlake Dispatch has been the paper residents have turned to when they want the latest local news.
The Mortlake Dispatch has a proud history of delivering local news on a weekly basis, covering stories that are at the heart of the community.
At the foot of Mt Shadwell, Mortlake is the centre of the rich agricultural and pastoral Western District of Victoria.
There are many significant bluestone buildings in the town, reflecting an important phase in the town’s development.
The volcanic plains, stony rises and stone walls are unique, as are the scoria walls of Mt Shadwell – which is also home to a quarry with one of the richest sources of olivine.
The pages of the Mortlake Dispatch are filled with local faces, local events and local milestones because locals matter – we ought to know, we’re local too.
The Mortlake Dispatch is determined to reflect the region’s views, champion its growth and celebrate its achievements at every opportunity.
We’re there to share the region’s highs and are determined to work with the community to overcome challenges and lobby governments for support of worthy projects.
The Mortlake Dispatch is proudly produced, printed and published by Western District Newspapers, an independent company based in Camperdown, right in the heart of the Corangamite Shire.
Drawing people from across the shire, we currently employ over 16 staff and are committed to the future with a major upgrade of our printing plant recently completed.
We’re here to stay.
