Cobden is town of some 1,400 people and is in the heart of the rich Heytesbury dairy farming area. Cobden boasts the largest dried milk processing factory in the Southern Hemisphere and claims to be the dairy capital of the Australia. Farming enterprises include dairying, sheep and wool, with the availability of natural gas attracting more business with the expansion of Bonlac Foods and Ausfeed Feed Mill creating work opportunities. The Cobden Timboon Coast Times is the southern region of the Corangamite Shire’s own local paper. Central to one of Australia’s richest dairying regions, the area boasts some of the country’s best grassy pastures mingled with picturesque valleys and vast stretches of natural bushland. The region’s rugged south coast is also a major tourist destination, offering visitors mystical glimpses of bygone shipwrecks and spectacular views of rugged coastal formations, including the world renowned Twelve Apostles.
The Cobden Timboon Coast Times has a proud history of delivering local news on a weekly basis for the past 120 years. We cover stories that are at the heart of the community. Our pages are filled with local faces, local events and local milestones because locals matter – we ought to know, we’re local too!

The Cobden Timboon Coast Times is proudly produced, printed and published by Western District Newspapers, an independent company based in Camperdown, right in the heart of the Corangamite Shire. Drawing people from across the shire, we are an employer of over 16 staff and have committed to the future with a major upgrade of our printing plant recently completed. We’re here to stay.
